Night Out
Camara de Lobos is the best place to go for drinks. Taxis are fairly reasonable, but be sure to negotiate the price beforehand.

Up Above
Portugal is just a really very beautiful country. I went to the island of Madeira. The city can sometimes be so busy, but if you go to the mountain you will be at peace. You must take the Funchal cable car. You can see everything and just enjoy the book with some coffee or lunch - really beautiful.

Re. The Levada Walks
You can do a guided tour or you can go it alone, but some places or on steep cliff sides so you have to be careful.

The Levada Walks
The casino was advertised so much and the information about where to go / what to do in Funchal was limited. For me, the best was the hiking. They have the trails from where the water can from the top of the mountain down. They have short and long. I did the long difficult hike and was happy with the view and viewing of interesting rock formations.

Food Can Be Dangerous
Just a warning - the food is delish, but the seafood is not always fresh. Just keep an eye on what you eat. Some of us got food poisoning.

Get Out and About
I would really recommend exploring the island, like the parks and hiking trails. We booked a mini bus tour to show us around. It was pretty comfy and we got to see something more than the town and the beach. There are some great trails at the top of the hills once you get up there.
